Careers
Learn the fundamentals, sharpen your skills and bring in AI to evolve iRIC. We are looking for people to join our small team in putting research into practice.
Who we're looking for
“I wanted to stay in research, but there were no positions…”
You are very welcome. iRIC work needs engineers with an academic background.
“I want to be closer to development.”
In a small team you are involved end to end, from theory to code to validation on real rivers.
“I don't have much programming experience, but I'm eager to learn.”
We value your attitude toward learning and growth more than your current skills.

What we value
Health first
Above all, we value being healthy in body and mind.
Strong fundamentals, a network with universities
We learn the fundamentals of hydraulics, numerical methods and programming and put them to work. We interact with professors daily and encourage conference talks and papers.
Eager to adopt new technology
We bring AI agents into development and the back office. On a solid foundation, we flexibly adopt new tools and methods.
Think critically
With no single right answer these days, we review premises and opinions objectively and debate whether something is really true.
Communicate and understand
We value both explaining clearly and understanding others' backgrounds.
What you'll do
Your work will be used in disaster-prevention projects such as river planning, channel design and flood hazard maps. Depending on your experience and skills, you will take on a mix of the following.
| Simulation development | Developing numerical models such as shallow-water flow, bed evolution and inundation (Fortran and others), and improving and validating solvers |
|---|---|
| iRIC platform development | Integrating solvers into iRIC, connecting them with the GUI, and responding to user feedback |
| Pre- & post-processing tools | Mesh generation in Python, terrain data preprocessing, and visualization and analysis of results |
| Analysis & technical support | River analysis for government, universities and companies, and technical reports |
| Outreach | Planning and running iRIC workshops and writing technical manuals |
To be honest with you
We are a small company. We cannot offer the long-term job security or extensive benefits of a large corporation, and we have to carve out our own future. That brings a unique kind of excitement, and risk as well.
Even so, if you want to grow your expertise and contribute to society, take on challenges only a small team can, and connect with engineers around the world, we would love to hear from you.
Location
Suginami, Tokyo (Kugayama Station on the Keio Inokashira Line). Remote work can be combined on request.
Student part-time positions
Students interested in iRIC or programming are welcome to ask about part-time work at any time. Working from home is possible, making it easy to balance with your studies.
Work at our office is conducted in Japanese.
